We are offering travel grants, registration fee waivers and childcare grant  to Ph.D and post-doc students, kindly sponsored by the EMBO and the European Academy of Andrology (EAA). These travel grants are intended for young scientists who want to participate in this meeting but do not have sufficient financial support.

To apply, email etw2023@unige.ch with the subject “Travel/childcare/registration fee waivers Grant application_last name_first name” (e.g., Travel Grant application_Marie_Skłodowska) before March 31st, 2023.

Please include the following documents in one PDF file:

  1. ​Motivation letter : 1 page maximum, font size 11, double spacing;
  2. Estimated expenses and justification: Please provide a realistic estimate and explain the purpose of the expenses;
  3. Short CV: 1 page maximum, font size 11, 1.5-spacing. Please include the following:
  • Personal information: Name, contact email, other relevant information
  • Current position, affiliation and address: in the case you are a receiving a fellowship (not the ETW travel grant), you have to mention it in this topic, including the funding agency
  • Professional career: Previous positions, scientific degrees, and education
  • Selected relevant publications in the last 5 years
  • Grants and fellowships in the last 5 years
  • Awards and Honors in the last 5 years.
  • Selected attended international conferences in the last 5 years: List presentations, if any.

4) A reference letter from your supervisor or a departmental responsible person certifying, on his/her honor, that you do not have sufficient financial aid to attend the conference.

5) Your miniposter: PDF format in accordance with the guideline.

Note: We can only accept applications with all the mandatory documents. Incomplete application will be rejected without further evaluation.


Special travel grants & registration fee waivers (EMBC Member States)

Exclusively for participants of any nationality working in laboratories in Associate EMBC Member States (Chile, India, Singapore and Taiwan). Registration fee waivers and travel grants should cover the cost of attendance for participants who need it. Applicants should specify their needs in the registration form. Maximally 1,000 CHF per participant can be allocated.


Special travel grants & registration fee waivers (EMBC Member States)

Exclusively for participants of any nationality working in the following countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey. Registration fee waivers and travel grants should cover the cost of attendance for participants who need it. Applicants should specify their needs in the registration form. Maximally 700 CHF per participant can be allocated.


Registration fee waivers

A limited number of registration fee waivers are also available for participants.

The registration fee waivers are allocated by the ETW organizers on the basis of the quality of the abstract submitted. All applicants have to justify the reasons for applying for a fee waiver.


Child care grants

ETW2023, as an EMBO Workshop, offers grants to offset additional childcare costs incurred by participants or speakers when participating at any EMBO Courses and Workshop funded meeting. Eligible costs include fees for a caregiver or child-care facility, travel costs for a caregiver, or travel costs for taking the child to the meeting etc. Please indicate on the registration form whether you would like to be considered for the grant, describe how you intend to use the childcare grant and specify the sum that you will need. Maximally 500 CHF per participant can be allocated.


Decision process

The travel grants attribution will be decided after evaluation of all applications by the ETW2023 local and permanent scientific committees. The decision will be announced by email in April 2023.

It is mandatory that the travel grant awardees keep their original bills and receipts as they will be requested by the organizing committee and our sponsors.

The payment will be made by bank transfer after the meeting concludes.
